La Quinceañera - An 8th grader's Coming of Age

So even though I've been teaching a long time, I never thought of doing this.  This year my four 8th grade classes celebrated one girl's Quinceañera in each class.  After reading about what is a Quinceañera and doing comparisons with Bat Mitzvah and confirmations, we learned to do a 'vals'.
The kids loved it.  Students prepared authentic foods for our Quinceañera and invited other classes.  This also was a hit because of the Quinceañera dress!  To learn the vals, I searched YouTube videos until we found this one http://youtu.be/ocExyKPUT9w
We made a few adjustments ( no lifts) but all-in-all the students really learned quickly.

Tips para Vender la Casa

¿Vende su casa?
Have students listen to these tips for selling a house. You can ask them questions about
what advice was given or maybe what additional tips can they think of; then they can
make their own video!

The app Tellagami ( rhymes with origami) is easy to use and you can upload your own
background. It still has a few quirks but your students can make their own videos!

Había una vez...

So are you teaching the 'affirmative & negative' words?  This is a great message with some practice for your students.
